You’re Invited: OMSI’s Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
On August 21, 2017, Oregon will be the first to see the total eclipse of the Sun. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will be at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem, Oregon where we will celebrate the unique experience of complete darkness for close to two minutes. We are expecting over 8,000 guests and our goal is to offer a fun, educational, and safe place for them to view this once-in-a-lifetime event.
And that’s where you come in! Not only do we want to tell you about the event, but we want you to be a part of it. We are looking for individuals and organizations focused on space science who would like to share their work with an interested audience.
The viewing party is 6am-Noon on Monday, August 21 with totality at 10:18am. Presented by the University of Oregon, the event will include a presentation by NASA Astronaut Don Pettit and performances by Portland Taiko.
If you (or someone you know) would like to participate please submit an application that tells us about yourself and your proposed activity, product, etc. Entries can be submitted from individuals as well as from groups, such as hobbyist clubs and schools.
Apply to be a vendor via our website: http://omsi.edu/eclipse-2017
Applications are due April 3, 2017.
We hope to see you there!
